Police want people to report sightings of David Kean.
A SERIAL lothario, who befriends lonely women on the internet and then steals from them, is being sought by the police.
David Kean, 41, is wanted in connection with offences committed against women from across the country, including one victim from the Alvaston area of Derby.
Officers say he met the 41-year-old victim on an internet dating site and then moved to be with her in December last year.
During his three-month stay in the city Kean burgled the woman?s house and stole a television while she was visiting her parents on Christmas Eve, damaging her garage door in the process. He also stole cash from the woman.
By February he had left the city.
Kean?s female victim in Derby did not wish to speak to the media.
A Derbyshire police spokesman said: ?We believe Kean is attempting to make contact with women in different areas of the country through various internet dating sites.
?He befriends these women, starts a relationship with them and then eventually steals from them before moving on.?
Kean, whose last-known address was Byland Close, Eastbourne, uses a number of other names including David Donald, David Ross, David Kayne, David Marshall and David Jamieson.
The spokesman said: ?Kean is known to travel the country and is wanted for questioning about offences committed in Merseyside, Dorset, Norfolk, Northamptonshire and Durham dating between 2008 and 2012.
?He is also wanted by Lancashire police for recall to prison after failing to comply with the terms of his licence.
?This is a very manipulative man who preys on vulnerable and lonely women through internet dating sites, gaining their trust before moving in with them or close to them, forging a relationship and then committing crimes against them.
?We do not know if there are any other victims he targeted in Derby or Derbyshire and believe that if there were, those women may be either too embarrassed or upset to contact us.
?I can assure any woman who might have fallen for Kean that any evidence they supply to us will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
?I would urge people to be vigilant and report any sightings to police.
?Any information the public may have could be crucial.?
Kean is white, around 5ft 9in tall, of stocky build with a shaved head.
Information can be given to the local police on 101 or it can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
