Report: Butler Picks Brandon Miller to Replace Brad Stevens as Head Coach

NCAA Butler Florida Basketball

Butler University didn?t take long ? or look far ? to find its new head basketball coach.

Three days after Brad Stevens?shocked the basketball world and left the school to become the new head coach of the Boston Celtics, Butler decided to hire in the family, tabbing assistant coach Brandon Miller as its new head coach, according to Nicole Auerbach of USA Today.

Miller, who played point guard for the Bulldogs from 2000-2003, worked under former Butler coach and current Ohio State coach Thad Matta?as a video coordinator and president of basketball operations before becoming an assistant at Butler in 2007-08. He took a job as an assistant at Ohio State from 2008-2011, then took a year off before becoming an assistant at Illinois. In April, he was hired by Stevens to be an assistant at Butler.

Miller, 34, has big shoes to fill as the Bulldogs prepare for their first season in the Big East. Stevens went 166-49 in six seasons at Butler, including reaching back-to-back national championship games in 2010 and 2011, before he accepted the job with the Celtics on Wednesday.
